Located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level, Tirthan is truly nature’s retreat! This valley is also the gateway to the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) which has recently got the attention of tourists. Situated in the Kullu district, the valley has got its name from the Tirthan river.
Tirthan valley is an unexplored gem. You can do trekking, hiking, fishing here, or just stay in some serene homestays to enjoy nature at its best!
Jibhi, an unexplored yet traveller’s favourite hamlet, is situated in the Banjar Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Pine forests, untouched lakes, and waterfalls, you will find serenity in this place. Most of the houses here are made of wood and stone. If you visit here in autumn you will get to see apple orchards too.
The best part about Jibhi is that even after getting tourists for a long time now, industrialization has still not touched the place!
Just walk around, and you will find various untouched streams, waterfalls to just sit and admire nature.

Tirthan Valley and Jibhi get visitors throughout the year, yet there are certain months which are better than others to explore these places.
April-June
Summers are the best time to enjoy the adventure activities at Tirthan Valley. The weather remains pleasant for adventure activities like hiking, trekking, fishing, paragliding, etc.
When other parts of the country burn in heat, this place will make you feel relaxed.
July-August
These months are when the monsoon greets the valley. The greenery in the valley grows as a treat to the eyes, but the valley’s roads will surely get disturbed. The chances of landslides increases, with frequent roadblocks.
It is surely not a good time to visit Tirthan Valley!
September-October
These are the best months to visit Tirthan Valley. Monsoon will no longer be there but the valley would be amidst a lot of greenery.
October welcomes the autumn to the valley. The complete valley turns golden. The weather becomes pleasant.
November-March
These are the months of snow, chilly weather, and a cup of hot cocoa in the valley. The temperature will be as low as zero degrees. If you are a snow lover you can visit here, but the chances of road blockage would be high in case of snowfall. If you are planning to visit here in peak winters, do have extra days in your plan.
Places to Visit at Tirthan Valley and Jibhi
Jalori Pass: Situated at an altitude of 3120m, Jalori pass is a picnic spot in the valley. The view of the Dhauladhar range from here is impeccable! It is the starting point of and Raghupur fort trek, which are two small treks in the region.
Serlosar Lake: Located at a distance of 5km from Jalori pass, this place is known for its beauty and peace. The lake can be reached by a small trek, the path of which will be covered by dense forest. This lake is very known among travellers because it amuses many as it always stays clean.
Great Himalayan National Park: Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) has recently got the attention of tourists. Situated in the Kullu district, the valley has got its name from the Tirthan river.
This park is also inscribed in the UNESCO world heritage site list.
Chhoie Waterfall: Also known as Sai Ropa, an unexplored path will take you to this beautiful waterfall. The trekking trail for the waterfall starts from a village called Gai Dhar to the waterfall.
Jibhi is an unexplored hamlet, located in the Banjar Valley of Kullu district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is 60km away from Kullu and 100km away from Manali.

Both the places can be explored in 2 days but we will suggest you take up at least 3-4 days to explore the area and around intensively.

The month of December comes with extreme weather in Tirthan Valley, the roads get blocked because of heavy snowfall in the region. We will suggest you avoid this month to visit the valley. Still, if you’re travelling, you can visit Gushaini, Banjar valley.
Tirthan valley is all about homestays. Stay with locals, cook and eat with them, get to know their culture. All this is possible when you stay in homestays. Some best of them are Jibhi Treehouse, Tirthan view homestay, Raju Bharti’s guest house.
Every place in Himachal is safe. Just avoid roaming out late after dawn or else there are chances of an encounter with wild animals in the area.
